Vino Expressions is now Wine and Work
The book Vino Expressions – People, Wine, and Loving Work has been re-priced, re-named, and re-formatted. The new name is Wine and Work – People Loving Life. The new price? $1.99. For that – less than the cost of a latte or a glass of wine – you get 120 unique color photographs, tales from 50 people sharing colorful stories, and a tour through a dozen countries. Now – let’s take a quick trip to the city of Blaye in Bordeaux, and then move onto Paris….
I stayed with friends Les and Clarissa who own and run the Villa St. Simon Bed and Breakfast in Blaye. Les also organizes and runs trips to wineries throughout Bordeaux. To break in the new year we had an amazing dinner and sampled three representative wines from the region – one from St. Emilion (Bordeaux right bank), one from Medoc (Bordeaux left bank), and one from the Côtes de Blaye (also right bank)…which was actually the tastiest – it was a Gérard Depardieu.
Blaye is a calm and classic French ‘city’ with about seven thousand people, a good open air market, an ancient citadelle, an art gallery (run by Clarissa) and some Fantastic food and wines. As Les Kellen well knows and tells others, the wines from Bourg and Blaye within Bordeaux are affordable and excellent. Watch them! They will be HUGE in the coming years. If you are interested in visiting Blaye and learning about the wines – contact Les or Clarissa at Villa St. Simon. For a quick visual tour around Blaye, click on the short video below.
Next – time to move onto Paris. Here’s a quick visit to a wine museum – Musée du Vin in Paris. It’s a nice place to escape cold weather during a wet winter afternoon.
